Hi Richard,

  That was it. SuSE 9.3 is now known for that! They're known for
no mp3 support due to copyright reasons and now for no GIF support
for I presume the same reasons.

  For the record what I did to fix the problem was this:

  - get and install libungif
    - http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/libungif/libungif-4.1.3.tar.bz2
    - ./configure, make, make install, ldconfig

  - re-install Prima
    - perl -MCPAN -e shell
      - force install Prima
